Fashion design is the art of the application of design and aesthetics or natural beauty to clothing and accessories. Fashion design is influenced by cultural and social lattitudes, and has varied over time and place. Fashion designers work in a number of ways in designing clothing and accessories. Some work alone or as part of a team. They attempt to satisfy consumer desire for aesthetically designed clothing; and, because of the time required to bring a garment onto the market, must at times anticipate changing consumer tastes.
Fashion designers attempt to design clothes which are functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. They must consider who is likely to wear a garment and the situations in which it will be worn. They have a wide range and combinations of materials to work with and a wide range of colors, patterns and styles to choose from. Though most clothing worn for everyday wear fall within a narrow range of conventional styles, unusual garments are usually sought for special occasions, such as evening wear or party dresses.
Some clothes are made specifically for an individual, as in the case of haute couture. Today, most clothing is designed for the mass market, especially casual and every-day wear.

The Hollywood Fashion Center was a shopping mall located at the South East corner of Hollywood Boulevard (State Road 820) and US 441 (State Road 7) in Hollywood, Florida. The mall opened in 1972, and had four anchor stores. With the opening of Pembroke Lakes Mall six miles west in Pembroke Pines in 1992, most of the anchor stores in the Fashion Center moved to the bigger stores at Pembroke Lakes Mall. The mall closed in 1993, but for a brief period from 2002-2004 it served as an indoor flea market named Millennium SuperMall "Hollywood's City Place" until it was discovered many of the booths were selling stolen wares. It has been closed since then.

Japan began to emulate Western fashion during the middle of the 19th century. By the beginning of the 21st century it had altered into what is known today as 'street fashion'. The term 'street fashion' is used to describe fashion where the wearer customizes outfits by adopting a mixture of current and traditional trends. Such clothes are generally home-made with the use of material purchased at stores.
At present there are many styles of dress in Japan, created from a mix of both local and foreign labels. Some of these styles are extreme and avant-garde, similar to the haute couture seen on European catwalks. The rise and fall of many of these trends has been chronicled by Shoichi Aoki since 1997 in the fashion magazine FRUiTS, which is a notable magazine for the promotion of street fashion in Japan.
More recently, Japanese hip-hop, which has long been present among underground Tokyo's club scene, has influenced the mainstream fashion industry. The popularity of the music is so influential that Tokyo's youth are imitating their favorite hip hop stars from the way they dress with over-sized clothes to tanned skin. Many Japanese youth believe that tanning or being darker is a freedom of expression they are unable to experience in their circumscribed social role as 'Japanese'. The idea of darkening one's skin to more closely resemble an American hip-hop star or ethnic group may seem like a fad, but this subculture, the black facers, do not particularly set themselves apart from many other sub cultures that have emerged as a result of hip hop.

In the early 2000s Argyle socks, khaki slacks, bootcut jeans, tracksuits,light-colored polo shirts (sometimes striped), white Adidas or Nike trainers, baggy carpenter jeans, Oxford shoes, loafers, camp shirts (often in fancy metallic patterns for clubbing), and baseball caps were popular. Practical hiking jackets (of the type made by Berghaus), fleeces and padded tartan lumberjack-type shirts were worn as winter outerwear.
In the mid 2000s retro fashions inspired by indie pop groups and the 1960s counterculture became popular, including Converse All-stars, winklepickers, cartoon print hoodies (in contrast to the designer brands worn by the chav subculture), vintage T-shirts, slim-fitting jeans, Mod-style parkas, military surplus dress jackets and fitted 1970s style Western shirts with pearl snaps (popularised by blues-rock band the White Stripes).
In the late 2000s 1950s and 1980s fashions became popular: Letterman jackets, black leather jackets like the Perfecto, Hawaiian shirts, straight leg jeans, Ray Ban Aviator sunglasses, Ed Hardy T-shirts, houndstooth tweed jackets, motorcycle boots, neon colors inspired by rave music, geek chic inspired horn rimmed glasses, roll sleeve tartan flannel shirts worn with white T-shirts, cardigans and knitted V-neck sweaters.Popular footwear included Sperry Top-Siders, Keds, Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars in many colors. In the European workplace the cut of suits changed as the three buttoned jackets popular in the 1990s were replaced with suits comprising a two-buttoned blazer and matching trousers. These sometimes featured contrasting Edwardian style piping on the lapels and were often worn with slim ties and waistcoats.

In the early 2000s, women and girls wore shoes and boots with rounded or flat toes. Dressy, feminine styles were reintroduced over the course of the decade, as women's fashion moved away from the more unisex styles of the 1990s. From the early 2000s onwards, women wore denim miniskirts, burberry, hip-hop inspired sweatpants, Daisy Dukes, ripped "distressed" jeans, flip-flops, ponchos, flared trousers, denim jackets and tank tops exposing the midriff. Colors like baby blue, yellow and hot pink were popular.
From the mid 2000s onwards women wore lowrise skinny jeans, lycra yoga wear, knee-high boots with pointed toes, trenchcoats and peacoats, tunics worn with wide or thin belts, capri pants, longer tank tops worn with a main blouse or shirt, leggings, and "vintage clothing" including hippie and Boho inspired dresses with paisley patterns. Crocs were a brief fad for both sexes in the summer of 2005, despite their kitsch connotations.
In the late 2000s, headbands, denim-print leggings, knitted sweater dresses, Nike Tempo shorts, ballet flats, acid wash skinny jeans and light, translucent tartan shirts worn with a camisole underneath were popular among young women. Long, baggy shirts were taken in at the bustline and often paired with a belt. Leather jackets and fur coats (previously avoided due to their association with animal cruelty) made a comeback. Middle Eastern shemaghs were worn as scarves as a protest agains the Iraq War and demonstration of solidarity with the Palestinians

Dying Is Your Latest Fashion is the debut album by American post-hardcore band Escape the Fate, released on September 26, 2006. The origin of the album's title comes from a line in the chorus of the song "Situations". It contains nine new songs plus two songs taken from There's No Sympathy for the Dead. "Not Good Enough for Truth in Cliché" and "Situations" were released as singles, with videos being made for both. It is the only full-length album and third overall release with original singer Ronnie Radke and rhythm guitarist Omar Espinosa. Mandy Murders modeled for the cover art and dated Ronnie Radke in the past.
